Sometimes the first click, call or email is the hardest step.

I’m so glad you're here. Welcome!

I am a seasoned clinical psychologist with over 15 years of experience providing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to individuals who are struggling with their mental health, as well as to individuals facing the many challenges of daily life as a parent, professional, spouse - or simply as a human in this complicated world.

I am a licensed psychologist in New York and Connecticut, and earlier in my career, in London, England. I received my undergraduate degree from Stanford University, studied clinical psychology at New York University, and received my doctorate degree from the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, Yeshiva University.

Prior to founding Our Wise Minds Psychotherapy, I served as the Associate Director at Cognitive Therapy for Women Psychological Services, where I provided training and supervision to early career and doctoral candidate psychologists in addition to my clinical work.

Prior to working in private practice and completing several years of specialized postdoctoral training in women’s mental health, I completed generalist psychiatric training in several NYC public hospitals, working on Mobile Crisis teams, in the Psychiatric ER and within inpatient and outpatient psychiatry units.

Whether you are in a moment of crisis, have a history of mental health struggles, or would simply like a guiding hand in optimizing your mental state:

let’s put our wise minds together to help you feel your best and reach your potential.

 FAQs

  • Our Wise Minds Psychotherapy provides individual psychotherapy for women and men, age 18+. My work is LGBTQ+ affirming, and I am committed to fostering a culture of respect, collaboration, and belonging, regardless of our similarities and differences, (whether racial, cultural, gender, sexuality, spirituality, or other).

  • Our Wise Minds Psychotherapy is an “out-of-network” provider for most major insurance plans. We do not process insurance claims, but we provide you with a one-page Superbill after each session, which includes all documentation and service codes necessary for a seamless reimbursement process. Individuals who have out-of-network mental health benefits often find that their insurance company will reimburse between 40-90% of the therapy fee.

  • We recommend calling the number on the back of your insurance card prior to our first session, and asking the following questions:

Do I have out-of-network behavioral health / mental health benefits to see a licensed psychologist via telehealth?

What is my out-of-network reimbursement rate per session?

What is my out-of-network deductible? Has it been met?

How many sessions are covered per calendar year?

    How do I submit claims?

For your info, The CPT code for an intake session is 90791; and the CPT code for a 45-minute individual therapy session is 90834.

  • It is essential that you feel comfortable with your therapist; and, just like any relationship, the therapeutic relationship takes time to grow. If you are unsure, I offer a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation so you can get a sense of my style, and I can answer any questions you have about getting started. From there, I recommend scheduling an initial session – the best way to know if it feels like the “right fit” is to meet! If for whatever reason it doesn’t feel quite right, I am happy to help you find another clinician to better suit your needs.

  • Our first session will be 50-60 minutes, and thereafter, sessions are weekly 45-minute appointments. I recommend weekly sessions initially, as I believe therapy is most effective when it is consistent. During our first few sessions, I will be getting to know what makes you, you. I will pay careful attention to your personal history - including your family, medical, relationship and mental health history. I will also learn about the issues that have brought you to therapy now, and together we will set goals for treatment. I will be sure to create a road-map for you as we go, so you are clear about how we will be getting from “struggle to solution” - and I will be checking in with you frequently to make sure our path feels right and helpful.

  • Our Wise Minds Psychotherapy uses a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform that provides clients with a unique link for each appointment. Remote therapy can be done from your home, office, or anywhere you feel comfortable, have privacy, and have good wifi! For many, remote therapy is more accessible and more convenient, and provides added flexibility for life’s busy schedules. During and subsequent to the Covid pandemic, research has shown that teletherapy is just as effective as in-person therapy. Our Wise Minds Psychotherapy is licensed to provide teletherapy throughout the states of New York and Connecticut.
